1. 안녕하세요 (Annyeong Haseyo) = Hello
Is a formal Korean greeting you can use in any situation and always safe to say. This greeting is used to greet people who older than you or any strangers that you meet. 안녕하세요 can be used regardless of the time at the day ; morning, afternoon and evening.
2. 안녕하십니까 (Annyeong Hasibnikka) = Hello
This greeting is much more polite and less friendly than 안녕하세요. It’s usually used when you are greet to somebody much older and more senior than you, for example to your boss at work or the principal of a school. Commonly used in a business setting.
3. 안녕 (Annyeong) = Hello, Hi
This is informal greetings. When you are greeting your friends or a person younger than you. It can also be used an informal way of saying “BYE”.
It’s important to get the basics right. If you can say hello with the good greetings, so.. Korean people you meet will appreciate your efforts.
